Sunday Stamps: New Year

This week, on 16 February, the Chinese New Year will start: the year of the Dog.

That means, we'll say goodbye to the Year of the Rooster..
Dutch PostNL issued a stamp sheet on which you can see this change. 'Vaarwel jaar van de Haan' means 'goodbye / farewell to the year of the rooster', and 'welkom jaar van de hond' means 'welcome year of the dog':



Via Instagram I got to know several mail loving people from all over the world. And some of them are starting a so-called 'chaincard' themed 'Year of the Dog'. We are just about to start, so I haven't received any of the stamps yet, but some of them showed the stamps they'll going to use already in the instagram groups, and I like to share the print-screens of these stamp pictures with you!

Sunday stamps: Zodiac

Today Sunday Stamps' theme is 'Zodiacal and zodiac signs stamps'.

I'd like to show you this wonderful one: the zodiac sign Aquarius, received from Ravindra from Sri Lanka.



Also in the Netherlands zodiacal stamps have been issued. In 2008 I had a stamp sheet showing all zodiac signs, however I've used these stamps to send out. Fortunately this stamp sheet still is shown in the 'postzegelblog' ('stamp blog').

And by that blog, I learned that the following stamp, issued in 1995 to use for birthday cards, also shows zodiac signs! I had kept these two for almost 19 years but never had watched it that well so far. So thank you very much, Viridian, for attracting my attention and learning more about my own stamps!



And although not meant as a zodiac sign, this pair of scales I think a nice picture of the Libra. It's one out of a serie of four measuring instruments, issued as Summer Stamps in 1986.

Nog een mooie vuurtoren van Ravindra uit Sri Lanka. Dit is de Beruwela of Barberyn vuurtoren.
Op de postzegel links het sterrenbeeld Waterman, rechts een heel recente postzegel, namelijk uitgegeven ter gelegenheid van de Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting die dit jaar in november in Sri Lanka plaatsvond.

My second lighthouse from Sri Lanka. Thank you very much, Ravindra, for sending me this beautiful picture!
The lighthouse is called Beruwela or Barberyn lighthouse.
Below on the left stamp you can see the constellation / Zodiac sign 'Aquarius'. The stamp on the right is a very recent one, namely issued for the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting which tooik place in November 2013 in Sri Lanka.
