Black minus red is blue and yellow

Today's Sunday Stamps' theme is 'Dark, colour or theme'. When I saw this theme announced last Sunday, I immediately had an atmospheric, nice dark / sunset stamp in mind. Not knowing what would happen later this week.
Thursday morning, 24 February, a horrible news shook the world. How can one man even think of attacking a country, and then let his bad saddening thoughts come true by letting the army of his country invade the neighbouring country...

Thanks to our stamp hobby on instagram I've learned to know kind and thoughtful people from both countries. While the woman in RU feels guilty and sad and supports the UA people, the UA woman is hiding in shelter due to the bombing...

Both you, dear visitor, and I know how real mail can connect real people in a positive way, and I wished that this agressive president would have been sending postcards and drink tea and make music with the neighbours instead of causing pain and loss by starting a bad, sad war.

Instead of the dark sunset stamp I originally had in mind, I chose two specific bright colours for today. The connection with the theme, dark/black: Painters know that the three primary colours together make black (or at least a dark grey).
So if we pull the red out of this black, the remaining colours form the bright colours of the flag of the country we are supporting in these hard times.
And I chose these stamps (coincidentally from other countries) to have these Blue and Yellow always keep on shining bright.
Last but not least, I dont know if KR Post did issue this yellow umbrella stamp intentionally to support the people in HK, but anyhow I think these people, whose freedom has been taken away by an other mighty country, deserve attention and support, too.
Let us not forget that many other countries have been invaded and even stolen by other countries (also in 'our' past via colonialism) and still today many more people in many countries suffer from war and agression.
Hopefully peace will gain victory all over the world very, very soon.

In: from Morocco (and Taiwan)

Pretty mail from Eva! The postcard shows a photo, made by Chie from Taiwan, and although originally made for Eva, Eva forwarded it to me, because I love wind turbines.

And I received a so-called 'blanco negro gris' - 'black white grey' letter, as a successor of a beautiful rainbow coloured letter (which I still have to post).
Eva added these two great animal illustrations to her kind words:

:-)

:-)))

Both postcard and letter arrived the same day, on the 13th of June. However, they must have been sent on different days, as the letter's postmark says 17 May, and the postcard's postmark 5th of (May of June?).

Thank you very much, Eva!

Sunday Stamps: windmills

Last Sunday, 23 April, the theme for Sunday Stamps was 'Windmills or lighthouses'. Alas I was out, and didn't have had time to schedule my blog post previously. Fortunately Violet had kept open the possibility to link so I just could add to the theme.

Dutch Post has issued several stamps on windmills. Among them this one, showing the windmills of Kinderdijk, a UNESCO world heritage site:

The stamp is part of a ten stamps sheet dedicated to UNESCO heritage.

A modern windmill, or wind turbine, is shown on the 2016 Europe stamps. The Dutch one is this:

I love this stamp, and also love the fact that all-over Europe, the same design was worked out in a slightly different way (size, edge/border, location of the texts, etcetera), as shows this tiny collection:

You can find a list of all 2016 Europe stamps via this link and see the stamps by clicking on the country's names.

See more stamps on the theme 'windmills or lighthouses' at and via the Sunday Stamps blog!

In: from Spain (and Taiwan)

Wind and water...
I love wind turbines, as they provide us with clean energy.
Eva was so generous to send me this wonderful photo, which has been made for her by Chi from Taiwan.

The wind turbines came in a great suitable envelope, with a stamp showing clean water.

Thank you very much, Eva! And via you, thanks a lot to Chi!

In: via Morocco from Taiwan

People who know me, know that I like environment-friendly things. Among these, wind turbines are one of my (many) favourite subjects on postcards.
This beautiful picture has been made in MiaoLi, Taiwan, by Chi, for Eva.
And on her turn, Eva made me happy by sending this picture to me. Thank you very much, Eva and Chi!
