Mail transport, a tram and the railway station, to my opinion always nice themes to see. And I was happy that John sent these in one postcard!

Also related to mail is of course the mailbox, a famous one from the United Kingdom is the red pillar box:



The stamp on the back side of this card is a 'bridge' to a postcard John had sent me some time ago, namely an illustration by Beatrix Potter of a character from the tales of Peter Rabbit. This is Benjamin Bunny, Peter's cousin:



The card sent / received previously shows Peter Rabbit himself, plus a squirrel and Jemima Puddle-Duck:



Peter Rabbit also shows up on a stamp, accompanied by a stamp of Mrs. Tiggy-Winkle, the hedgehog:

I was happy to find these maxicards on the internet. The stamps have been issued in 1989 for the 150th anniversary of the Dutch Railways.



The card below shows a mail train!
I haven't seen trains like this anymore for the last decades. Probably mail is carried in common cargo trains without logo, or by road in vans. I think the latter, as I see many mail vans on the highway.



On all back sides there is a prominent 'R' printed at the place where the stamp has to be sticked.
It is clear to whom I have to send these cards!

In: from Morocco

This building is the former railway station of Tétouan, Morocco.
Nowadays there aren't any trains anymore in Tétouan. In 2012 the building has been restored and since then it is the Museum of Contemporary Art.

Also from Morocco, a few weeks later I received this postcard, showing the railway station of the city of Nador, in the north of Morocco.
The railway station is rather young: it was opened only seven years ago, in July 2009.

I had sent a small picture of the Amersfoort railway station on a multiview card to Ravindra already. Recently I found an other postcard. With indeed exactly the same photo, but a larger, easier visible one, so now it is on its way to Sri Lanka.

As Ravindra loves lighthouses, too, I added this recently issued stamp on the back.

Afgelopen maandag bracht PostNL een postzegelvel uit ter gelegenheid van 175 jaar Spoorwegen in Nederland.
Natuurlijk moeten de verschillende postzegels stukje bij beetje naar Ravindra gestuurd worden. Voor de bovenste postzegel vond ik onderstaande toepasselijke kaart, die hij zo te zien nog niet heeft.

Last Monday the Dutch post issued a stamp sheet for the 175th anniversary of Dutch railways.
Of course these ten stamps have to be sent, little by little, to Ravindra for his collection. Fortunately I found this suitable train card, which he hadn't received so far, to accompany the first stamp-to-send.



En eerder vond en stuurde ik deze auto, voor Ravindra's autoverzameling.
And some time before I found this car, to send for Ravindra's car collection.

Sunday stamps: Clocks

This Sunday stamps' theme is open: 'anything you wish'.

Some time ago I had the theme 'Clocks' in mind, but due to the fact that I'm too busy these weeks and there's only little spare time, I initially thought to skip my contribution this time. However, I happened to have received mail art from Romania yesterday, and the stamps showed, besides flowers... Clocks! No coincidence, I suppose, and thanks to the Romanian (mail) artist Mariana Serban I tried - and succeeded - to find some time to scan these and some more clocks-on-stamps.



One place where clocks are important, is the railway station. You can see the clock on top of this railway station in Brazil:



And in 1989 the Dutch post issued this stamp for the 'Nederlandse Spoorwegen' (Dutch railway company), which were a national company for 150 years then. The stamp shows a clock (and train), too:



A wellknown clock stamp is of course the American clock:

At the end of the year, of course all of us are watching the clock.

And in Spain, where it's tradition to eat a grape every time the clock strikes at the turn of the year:



And for the ones who like technics (among them, I do), the inside of clocks is very interesting, too. 'Uurwerk' means 'clockwork':

Op deze kaart een schilderij (ja, echt!) van Charles Burki, 'station Rotterdam CS'.

Sent to Ravindra in Sri Lanka, who, same as I do, likes trains.
This card shows a painting (yes, really!) of the central railwaystation in the city of Rotterdam, made by Charles Burki (1909-1994).

Trein, verstuurd naar Ravindra in Sri Lanka, wiens trein-ansichtkaarten weblog ik via een van de links van Eva's postavonturen ontdekte.

Train, sent to Sri Lanka, to Ravindra, whose train postcards weblog I discovered thanks to an url at Eva's mail adventures.



Ravindra blijkt ook van (oude) auto's te houden, vandaar deze postzegels met een auto-van-27-jaar-geleden, bij het tankstation Hazeldonk. Deze zijn van het postzegelvel ter gelegenheid van het 100-jarig bestaan van het Openluchtmuseum in Arnhem. Heel toevallig nog bezocht, afgelopen weekend, de moeite waard!

Ravindra also likes (vintage) cars, so I chose these stamps showing a car (27 years ago) at the filling station in Hazeldonk (NL).
These stamps are part of a stamp sheet, issued to celebrate the centennial of the Open Air Museum in the city of Arnhem (NL). I happened to have visited this interesting museum last Saturday, and enjoyed it a lot!

In aansluiting op het Berlijnse centraal station, ontving ik deze kaart van het centraal station in Leipzig. Linksboven onder de glazen bogen zijn de perrons.

Recently I received a postcard of the main railway station of Berlin, and now you can see the interior of the Leipzig central station. On the left, behind/below the glass arches there are the platforms.

Ik heb iets met treinen, en dus ook met treinstations. En postcrosser Sylvia was zo aardig om mij deze kaart te sturen, van Berlijn CS. Ik ben nog nooit in deze wereldberoemde stad geweest (al heb ik wel eens in de trein naar Berlijn gezeten, maar ik stapte in Nederland al weer uit).
En op deze manier komt de stad toch een beetje naar ons toe :-)

I like trains, so I also like railway stations. And I became very happy when postcrosser Sylvia was so kind to send me this postcard of Berlin Hauptbahnhof (Berlin Central Station).
I've never been to this famous city yet, however by this card the city comes closer :-)
