Postcards for the Weekend: Winter scenes

This weekend's Connections to the World theme is 'Winter scenes'.
At the moment it is cloudy, here in the Netherlands. Sometimes rainy, and when going outside one could think it to be not only winter, but also autumn or spring. In the start of last December there were some days full of snow, and the weather forecast says it might be snowing next week, or not.
At least there are postcards who show snow. And thanks to 'Postcards for the Weekend' I was triggered to share them with you.

The postcard above I received from Margit from Germany, a cute one of Little Mole, or Krtek, and his woodland friends.

Although I dislike the cold and slipperiness of snow, sleighing is fun. This postcard is an illustration by Fiep Westendorp.

The postcard below I had made out of a photo I took some winters ago, from footsteps of our feathered friends on the pathway next to our home.

And this is a regular postcard, showing a winter scene in the province of Drenthe:

I used it for a chaincard, and after a journey via the USA, Indonesia (without melting!) and Russia the card returned home safely, the backside filled with snowmen:

  1. It is fun to see how much aimless wandering some of our animal, and feathered, friends do while leaving behind their telltale footprints.

    1. Sure it is fun!
I doubt if the birds wander aimless, and if they wonder, from their point of view, watching us from their tree or streetlight, which aim we humans have while wandering :-)

  2. That photo with webbed feet footprints is a treasure! So nice! I also dislike the cold and slipperiness of a snowy day. I experienced it twice while in Helsinki back in April last year. Stay warm and have a nice week ahead!

    1. Thank you, Maria!
I guess Finland is far more cold than it is here in NL, so in a way I am lucky, despite of the chilliness :-)

  3. Winter seems wonderful from your pictures. The first one is an Advent calendar, isn't it?

I used not to love cold and snow. But one of my friends of Canada said to me: "If you don't fight the winter, it wins". "Fighthing" meaning going out anyway, and just... doing things. I think he was right. Anyway, winter here isn't so hard. We've already had some snow, but not in the city, just in the mountains nearby.

    1. I agree, we need to go outside (and we do so), and - before the melt/freeze-again/slippery time and under the condition of warm clothing - it is beautiful and special :-)

    2. And correct, it is an advent calendar. I received it in time (before 1st of December) but my care for this card has won from my curiosity: I thought it a pity to open the 'doors'. Maybe the coming year.. :-)
