Out: to Spain

"Ten commandments for parents", illustration published in the Dutch / Amsterdam newspaper 'Het Parool', 20th October 1960, by Fiep Westendorp (1916-2004), one of my favourite Dutch illustrators. Her illustrations about women and children still are modern, more than 50 years after creating them!
Fiep Westendorp is also well-known by the Jip and Janneke illustrations.

Send to Spain, with old postage stamps: gulden (florin, guilder) instead of euro.
The one on the left shows the inside of the Dom church in the city of Utrecht; the one on the right the oldest lighthouse of the Netherlands, the Brandaris on the Wadden island Terschelling.

In: from the USA

Funny: this card looks crooked / leaning, but really has been scanned straight/right!
Received from PostMuse, this postcard from the National Postal Museum in Washington DC.
This postcard was designed by Melissa Esposito, who also was co-hosting a LetterWriting and MailArtMaking event in this Smithsonian museum. See these pictures - it must be great to join such a wonderful postal event!

Thank you very much, PostMuse!

Out: to China

This card I've sent to a Chinese postcrosser, who had sent me a nice card.
I drew a little Dragon on the envelope, because it's the Chinese Year of the Dragon.

Out: to the USA

How great, to be able to make music even when time has left it's traces. I would wish to do so, in future. This card of a bass player in Santiago de Cuba I sent to the USA as a 'thank you' for these beautiful postage stamps.

Out: to Spain

Sent to Spain, this postcard of the city hall and market in Delft, a nice city in the province of Zuid-Holland. In Spain most of the time I saw indoor markets and only a few outdoor ones. In many Dutch cities there's a weekly market. Outdoors! Which I think funny as one could rely more on the weather in Spain than in the Netherlands. I respect all market men and women who sell their things even when there's pouring rain or freezing cold. However, of course in Spain it might be too warm to keep the fresh food fresh outdoors!..

Minions!

Minions! From the movie 'Despicable me', a nice story.
Thank you very much, Lorlay!

In: from Finland via Spain

A long journey, this card has made. The Inge Löök illustration of course comes from Finland, however the stamps prove this card has been traveling via Spain. So does the cancelling stamp print on the front side (which makes this card unique!).

Received from Eva - thank you very much!

In: from Spain

23 april means Saint Jordi's day (Saint George's day). On this day, in Catalonia people give each other books, and Eva sent me this postcard. Containing a beautiful text: 'Nature whispers to us, but only half the secret'.
So listen carefully! I think many of us usually even don't hear a minimal part of it.

The postcard was accompanied by this suitable cartoon. '
Buy a book. And then read it.'

The stamps show a funny picture. I wish more people in our city would act like that.
(Who would have cancelled the postage stamps this artfully?)

Thank you very much, Eva!
