Na de ansichtkaart van het vliegveld was ik de blije ontvanger van nog eens vier kaarten van de Azoren! Met mooie natuur. Boven zie je de Priôlo (Pyrrhula murina), eronder Scopoli's pijlstormvogel en nog nèt een staartje walvis.

After the Airport postcard I was happy to receive four more postcards from the Azores! With beautiful nature. Above you see the 'Priôlo' (Pyrrhula murina, also known as Azores Bullfinch), and below a Shearwater bird (Calonectris diomedea borealis), and the tail of a whale.



Hierboven het bijzondere 'maanlandschap' van Capelinhos. Die ene berg is best nieuw voor een berg! In 1957-1958 ontstaan dankzij een langdurige vulkaanuitbarsting. Hierdoor kreeg de vuurtoren, die eerst aan zee stond, ineens uitzicht op een berg...

Hieronder mooie postzegels, onder andere van de componist Verdi en... Een postauto!

Above the amazing 'moon landscape' of Capelinhos. The mountain is rather new, it's a volcano, which was 'born' in 1957-1958 by a long lasting volcano eruption.
Poor lighthouse: first it was close to sea (as usual), and since 1958 the lighthouse has no sea view anymore but a mountain view!...
(Eva: I saw some more volcano pictures here!)

Below you see beautiful stamps, among them one of the composer Verdi, and one of a... post car!

In: from the United Kingdom, directly and via Spain

Wat een mooi toeval: op exact dezelfde dag ontving ik twee verschillende kaarten van twee verschillende personen uit twee verschillende landen, met verschillende overeenkomsten! Een postzegel als afbeelding, en beide kaarten waren bovendien in hetzelfde jaar uitgegeven, in 2009, door de Engelse Royal Mail.

Such a nice coincidence: on exact the same day I received two postcards showing a postage stamp. They were issued in 2009 by the Royal Mail. And sent to me by two totally different persons, from different countries.



Leuk, deze slak, met een 'mythical creature', een 'pixie' op het huisje op zijn/haar rug. De postzegel is ontworpen door Morgan Radcliffe, de illustratie getekend door Dave McKean.
Verstuurd vanuit Spanje. Dankjewel, Eva!

En op deze postzegel de markante rode Engelse telefooncel, ontworpen door Sir Giles Gilbert Scott, die ook andere ontwerpen, inclusief gebouwen, op zijn naam heeft staan.

And on this stamp you see the typical red telephone box, which was designed by Sir Giles Gilbert Scott, who also designed other objects, including buildings like the Liverpool Cathedral.

De telefooncel-kaart was een antwoord op deze lezende mannen. Boven: Zola, door Manet, onder: filatelisten (dus of ze echt lezen, of plaatjes kijken, is de vraag :-)

The telephone box stamp card was sent as a reply to these reading men. Above: Zola by Manet; below: philatelists (so we'll never know whether they are really reading or just looking at pictures :-)

In: from Portugal

Hoera, weer een vliegveld! Gelegen op het eiland São Miguel (Azoren, Portugal) bij de hoofdstad Ponta Delgada. Met op de achterkant mooie postzegels van twee andere favoriete onderwerpen: openbaar vervoer en cartooneseke illustraties. Dankjewel, Eva!

I'm happy to receive another airport postcard! This one is located close to Ponta Delgada, the capital of the Autonomous Region of the Azores, on the island São Miguel. I also like the postage stamps a lot, they show two other favourite subjects: public transport and cartoons/illustrations. Thank you very much, moltes gràcies, Eva!

Ik heb iets met vliegvelden, dus ben erg blij met deze kaart van het vliegveld van Barcelona, die Eva stuurde.

I don't know why, but I like airports, so I'm a happy receiver of this card showing Barcelona Airport. Thank you very much, Eva!



Het vliegtuig hierboven is l'Avió, het vliegtuigje wat al sinds 1928 over het 114 jaar oude Tibidabo park vliegt.

The airplane above is l'Avió, the airplane which flies already since 1928 above the 112 years old Tibidabo Park. Moltes gràcies, Eva!

Out and in: to and from the United Kingdom

Altijd leuk om ansichtkaarten met als onderwerp 'brievenbus' te ontvangen! Met toepasselijke postzegels, ook. Deze twee ronde brievenbussen staan vlakbij kasteel Windsor. Ontvangen van John uit Engeland.

It's always nice to receive postcards showing letterboxes. And even a miracle when the stamps show letterboxes, too! These two pillar boxes are located close to Windsor Castle. Thank you very much, John!



Verstuurd als antwoord op deze kaart van de levenbarende hagedis, die ik weer stuurde vanwege die ene postzegel, rechtsboven in de hoek, die de ontvanger graag wilde en waarvan ik toevallig nog een exemplaar had (nb deze gulden-postzegels zijn nog te gebruiken tot 1 november a.s.!..).



Sent as a reply to this postcard, showing a common lizard, which I've used as a carrier to send the stamp in the right corner.

In: from Spain and Morocco

Als je goed kijkt zie je 'm, weer een vuurtoren! Deze is van Tarifa, een stad in het zuidelijkste puntje van Spanje. De bergen op de achtergrond zijn in Afrika.

Ik kende 'Tarifa' eigenlijk alleen als naam van de muziekgroep, Radio Tarifa, maar dankzij deze kaart van Eva leerde ik dat Tarifa een stad is.
En zie die mooie muziekpostzegels op de achterkant!

When you look close, you can see it, another lighthouse! This is the lighthouse of Tarifa, a town in the very south of Spain. The mountains in the back are in Africa.

I only knew 'Tarifa' as a name of a music group, Radio Tarifa, but thanks to this card from Eva I learned Tarifa is a town as well.

En onderstaande kaart van smurf en vuurtoren kwam al eerder in m'n bus, ook zo'n prachtig plaatje - moltes gràcies, Eva!

Prachtige illustratie van Jan Lööf, deze vuurtoren met de kluizenaar uit het Zweedse boek 'Morfar är sjörövare' ('Mijn opa is een piraat').
Zie ook hoe mooi de zee is afgebeeld, de kalme zee die toch beweegt. Dankjewel, Eva!

Look what a beauty, this lighthouse, created by the Swedish illustrator Jan Lööf. And yes, this lighthouse fits very well in my collection, thank you very much, Eva! The peacefully reading man is a hermit, figured in the Swedish book 'Morfar är sjörövare' ('My Grandpa is a Pirate').
Look how beautiful the sea has been illustrated: a calm sea, but still moving.



Hierboven is het even goed kijken, maar dan vind je 'm ook, de zuidelijkste vuurtoren van Europa, de 'Punta Europa' op Gibraltar.
Ja, inmiddels heb ik 'vuurtorens' ook bij mijn gewenste onderwerpen voor Postcrossing gevoegd (al vind ik natuurlijk iedere kaart een kadootje, los van de afbeelding).

When you look close, you can see the most southern lighthouse of Europe, the 'Punta Europa' on Gibraltar.
Yes, meanwhile I added 'lighthouses' to my wished subjects in my Postcrossing profile (while of course I consider every postcard a nice suprise, whatever the picture might be).
