Sunday Stamps: Bridges

Today's Sunday Stamps theme is 'Bridges'. One of my (many) favourite themes on stamps!

Dutch PostNL happens to have issued a bridge stamp sheet last year, which I am happy to share with you here:

See more beautiful bridges at the Sunday Stamps blog and via the links mentioned there.

  1. This sheet is great. I like how some of the bridges extend into the selvage. PostNL always makes great use of the selvage space, I wish other post offices would do the same.

    1. I thought more post companies do use the selvage - but maybe you are right that it isn't usual.

  2. Marvellous sheet of bridge stamps. Despite the many times I have been there I don't remember many bridges in the Netherlands - other than the bridge the planes use to cross over the road at Schipol.

    1. I happened to have been in an airplane crossing the A4 road last Saturday!

I am amazed that you didn't see bridges! I guess you might have noticed - maybe unconsciously - for example the many bridges over the canals in Amsterdam, and also a few over the canals in Utrecht. And the Erasmus Bridge in Rotterdam is said to be a landmark :-)
My favourite bridge however is the bridge over the river Waal, close to Nijmegen, to which still no officiel stamp has been dedicated, as far as I know. Fortunately there are at least two 'personalized' stamps, Eva blogged about it:

  3. I didn't have the time to participate. But I had guessed you would did! It's also one of my (many) favourite subjects, as you know.

    1. I already missed your contribution!
And guess there will be a new chance in future :-)

  4. I like the variety of shapes and angles. Some elegant engineering.

    1. I agree, the total picture is more than the ten stamps only :-)
